Mother’s Day Petite Fours
If you enjoy baked sweets and food porn, I highly recommend visiting i am baker (if you don’t already). Amanda always has the most drool-worthy photographs of her latest sweet treats! Even though I am a cake decorating virgin, she has some pretty fantastic tutorials, and I decided to try my hand at making her Oreo Cakester Petits Fours:
Although it’s not mentioned in the original tutorial, to make working with the Cakesters easier, we froze them before draping the rolled fondant over them. This helped minimize crumbs, and we could easily position the fondant if necessary (whereas the fondant would stick to the Cakester when we tried re-positioning it at room temperature).
This was my very first time working with rolled fondant and was pleasantly surprised. It’s basically like working with play-doh, which made the petit fours super easy to make. After a few tries, I had the hang of it and my daughter (and husband) joined in the fun.

They turned out pretty cute!

Everyone had his/her own design style, so we ended up with quite an eclectic bunch of adorable treats to adorn our brunch table!

Can’t wait to try this again!
